The LSLA is delighted to announce details of our spring/summer lectures, which will consist of talks and panel discussions with eminent practitioners on topical subjects of legal interest.

Each lecture will begin at 6 p.m., and will last approximately one hour, which will include an opportunity for questions.  The lectures will be followed by an opportunity for drinks and networking.  Materials and, if practicable, a video recording will appear on the LSLA website after the event.

On 30 April 2024, the Lady Chief Justice, Baroness Carr, announced a new Transparency & Open Justice Board that would examine and seek to modernise the judiciary’s approach to open justice.  The Board is focusing on four Key Objectives: Open Courts, Open Reporting, Open Decisions and – of urgent interest to commercial litigators – Open Documents.  The LSLA is privileged to be able to offer an update on the work of the Board – and details of a forthcoming pilot scheme on access to public domain documents - from Mrs Justice Cockerill – a member of the Transparency and Open Justice Board and head of the CPRC sub-committee dealing with access to documents.

In this talk Jonathan Nash KC and Sarah Tulip will discuss recent developments in the law of privilege between companies and their shareholders, and more generally the scope of common interest privilege and how to protect legal advice and comment circulating within large corporate groups and internal investigation units.
