Junior Lawyers Are Rewriting the Rules of Career Progression
The old "live like a hermit, work like a horse" model of career progression is fading fast. As thousands of junior solicitors qualify each year, simply being a good lawyer is no longer enough to stand out — building genuine client relationships has become the real differentiator. Meanwhile, partnership itself is losing its shine as the default ambition, with many juniors now charting alternative routes via networking, in-house roles, or sheer specialism, while a generation raised on flexibility pushes firms to rethink what career success actually looks like.
