JLSLA Event: The Psychology of Giving Evidence: How Witnesses Perform Under Pressure

The Junior LSLA and Assurety are pleased to announce that they will be holding an immersive experience focused on the psychology of giving evidence and how witnesses perform under the pressure of cross-examination.

Delivered by a leading KC and a performance psychologist, this interactive session explores how witnesses respond under pressure and how to improve performance in the witness box. Drawing on live demonstrations and real-world examples, the speakers will demonstrate how to improve witness performance, reduce risk and strengthen your case.

During this session, you will:

- learn why every witness performs differently under pressure and the mental skills needed to give effective evidence;
- observe a live cross-examination delivered by a leading KC, with expert feedback on the behaviours that enhance – or undermine – credibility in court; and
- see how legal expertise, psychology and structured practice can work together to prepare witnesses for the realities of giving evidence.

You can expect to leave with a clearer insight into:

- the real pressures and anxieties witnesses face;
- how decision makers assess credibility; and
- how structured and repeated practice can build confidence and resilience, while reducing risk and unwelcome surprises.
