James Price QC and Adrienne Page QC – 5RB

James Price QC looks at whether the Defamation Act 2013, which received Royal Assent in
April 2013 and came into force on 1 January 2014, is really as radical as it appears at first glance.

Adrienne Page QC will then discuss whether, looking to the future, it may not be so much the letter of the reforming legislation, but rather the steady rise in the influence of Article 8 in areas of English domestic law beyond defamation that ultimately determines whether, in the courts, the free speech campaign has been won or lost.
